A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Basil Rathbone is most worldly known for his role as Sherlock Holmes, although he was commonly also casted as the sauve villian for such movies as The Adventures of Robin Hood, A Tale of Two Cities and David Copperfield in the 1930's.
